Maria Rita Penteado was born in Brazil and started weight training by herself when she was 15, with a pair of dumbells and an iron bar in her bedroom. The love for fitness guided her to get a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education by one of the best Brazilian Universities ( Universidade Federal de Sao Carlos - UFSCar) in 2002. After that she started a successful career as a personal trainer in Brazil. On August, 2008 she decided to move to NY for a student exchange program and was introduced to competitive bodybuilding, doing her very first show in 2009 (NY Steve Stone Metropolitan - 04/11/2009) when she got the first of many victorie. Maria Rita still lives in Long Island, NY and loves her healthy lifestyle, which inspires others to do the same and improve themselves.
