Jacque Till is Back

 

HDPhysiques - The INCREDIBLE 1990's "Quad Queen" Jacque Till re-emerged this past weekend at the 2012 Emerald Cup, winning the overall in Women's Bodybuilding. Jacque also won this show way back in 1994, and later finished 2nd at the 1995 Jr. Nationals. To my knowledge, that's the last the industry had heard from her until this past weekend. HDPhysiques was on hand, and we were lucky to get one of our "dream shoots" come true. Only a handful of women have had such an impact in women's bodybuilding over the years. Jacque, known for her mind-blowing quads, has barely aged a day over the last 18 years, and looked simply gorgeous for our Sunday morning shoot. Not only was her physique ripped and full of thick shapely muscle, but she was also an absolute treat to work with, possessing a wonderful personality and an eagerness to show off her hard work.

I love sexy women lifting weights, but I think these might be fakes :) Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana does gym fashion at the 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Maybe someday they'll get a bodybuilder out there to show them how it's really done.

Strong Women in History: Vulcana

Better known by her stage name, Vulcana, Kate Williams was born in 1875 in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, in Wales. Her parents were of Irish decent and her father was a well-respected local preacher. She spent her career performing as one half of a double act with her life partner, William Roberts (better known as his stage name, Atlas). The pair, who avoided controversy when they fled their home town together (Roberts was married with a child) after falling in love, went on to tour music halls in Britain, Europe and Australia. Their double act was called The Atlas and Vulcana Group of Society Athletes. Vulcana had a particularly strong bond with her husband, Atlas, although she used to pretend they were brother and sister in order to preserve the credibility of their double act.

At the age of 30 she was 5'7" in height, weighed 161Lbs and had the following measurements: chest - 3'6", waist - 2'3", biceps - 1'3", thighs - 2'1", forearm - 1', neck - 1'3". Vulcana was able to lift 181Lbs with just one arm.

The height of Vulcana’s career was reached while she was living and working in France, where she found fame thanks to regular appearances in magazine articles. She won over one hundred medals during her career, including one personally awarded to her by Professor Edmond Desbonnet – often referred to as the “Father of French Bodybuilding”.Vulcana was exceptionally strong. She earned a reputation as a heroine due to many personal situations she found herself in; she once confronted a mugger who tried to steal her bag by grabbing his arm and leading him straight to the police station, and on another occasion she single-handedly pulled a stuck wagon from a ditch in London in front of a crowd of people. Her favourite technique was arm-twisting and she was particularly good at bench presses; she could reach weights of 124.5 pounds with her right hand and an over head lift with a 56 pound weight in each hand.

ChickenTuna Before & After

Laura Harris aka ChickenTuna is somewhat of an internet sensation, usually showing off a faceless fit body, killer abs and a great rack. Laura says, "I was never athletic at any point in my life. After I finished college I had a corporate job, sat on my ass all day and started looking like complete crap so I had to take action." She started exercising two years after the "before" photo was taken when she was 23. Now at 44 she has never looked better.

Lisa Cross

I am a 32 year old English body builder. I am originally from Manchester in the north of England but for the past several years have lived in the south west of England. I have been weight training for about seven years but only started to train seriously, and bit the bullet, for the past two years.

I have the utmost respect for all female body builders as I know the dedication this sport requires but I would have to say that my all time favourite female body builder is Lenda Murray. When I met her in 2007 at the Olympia she lived up to, and indeed exceeded all my expectations and it was upon meeting her that I decided to take the plunge and compete.

I am often asked which is my best body part and what is my favourite body part to train. I truly believe that you are only as good as your weakest body part and I am always striving to maintain a symmetrical and aesthetic physique so I am always conscious of body parts that are lagging. Furthermore my favourite part of being a body builder is when I am in the gym, lifting.

I have lived a varied and interesting life, having lived in Russia, Japan and France. I still love to get away and travel and there are still so many places I want to visit. When I get time to relax though I like to walk my dog on one of the nearby beaches or watch a game of rugby on TV or just sit and read and recuperate from a hard training session.

Britt Miller Returns

Britt Miller returned to the competitive stage last night at the NC State Championships after an eight year hiatus. Once a lightweight bodybuilder, she now competed in the new Women's Physique division and won the overall.

Big meets Bigger

Brigita Brezovac is one big muscle woman and currently a dominant figure in female bodybuilding. Now put her next to legendary bodybuilder Christine Envall for a size comparision. Brigita said, "I finally met famous AU fbb Christine Envall! This woman has so much muscle mass (you should see her legs!) that I almost felt like fitness girl next to her ;)"

Luckily we don't have to worry about Brigita competing in Fitness anytime soon, and are looking forward to Christine's return to the stage.

Super Susie

Ripped, shredded and peeled doesn't begin to describe the Female Muscle art of J.P.Uhl. A silkscreener and graphic artist with a vivid and sometimes radical imagination, he has always been fascinated by the powerful lines of female gymnasts and women with muscular physiques.

Joeseph began drawing in 1984 after he married Susie... "the most beautiful women ever..." His drawings were at first crude, but dug out anatomy books and video stills of bodybuilding contests to better understand the female physique. Super Susie was soon born. He eventually added shade, tone and shadow. Downloaded female bodybuilding images provide the form and pose to his art, while various photos of Susie complete them.

So what did Susie think of the artwork? Joseph says, "She at first was a little weirded out at them but she came to appreciate them and even thought at times to build her physique."

While Joseph has been drawing Super Susie for nearly two decades, only recently has he felt them good enough to publish. His work has been shown on LHArt and FemaleMuscle and is hoping to gain exposure. He says, "I hope to in the future even do customer orders and even some colour work."

J.P.Uhl still lives in his Ohio hometown... while Susie lives in Florida.
